Electric, with the right questions asked.
Battery evidence, charging access and the journeys you actually make.

Consider your regular distance, longer trips and access to charging. Published range is a benchmark rather than a promise: weather, speed, heating, load and battery condition can affect the distance you achieve.
Ask for battery evidence
Ask whether a battery health report is available, who produced it and when. Check the exact model and battery version. A seller’s range estimate is different from a documented battery assessment.
Check how you will charge
Confirm the car’s charging connectors, AC and DC charging capability and included cables. Check realistic charging options at home, work and along your routes. Use your own electricity price in our cost calculator; public and home charging prices can differ considerably.
Read the warranty
Ask for the battery warranty’s remaining time, distance limit, coverage and exclusions. Confirm whether it transfers to you and who handles a claim. For a plug-in hybrid, ask about both battery and combustion-engine maintenance.
